Spotify Premium Student is available only for individuals studying at colleges or universities, provided their institution has been verified by SheerID. Provided a user is able to verify their student credentials, they can enjoy free access to Hulu for four years as well. Spotify's Student Plan is available for 12 months and users can renew it another three times, extending its validity to a total of four years.

This also means that once a Spotify subscriber can no longer provide student credentials, they'll need to upgrade to a different Premium subscription and will lose access to these freebies. Spotify earlier offered Hulu to all Premium subscribers, but that offer has since expired.

Unfortunately, the free Hulu subscription is only available on the Spotify Premium Student plan. This is a slightly more complicated process, because after billing is canceled, users need to wait for their Showtime plan to expire (they can continue watching during this period) and then activate the free plan through their Spotify services page. For Showtime, the process is a bit different because the current plan needs to be canceled and then reactivated.

Additionally, existing Hulu users will need to be on the ad-supported plan ($6.99 per month), not have any add-ons like Showtime or HBO, and be paying for Hulu directly and not via a third-party platform like Roku or Amazon to switch their billing to Spotify. Existing Hulu users need to agree to switch their billing over to Spotify while signing up for a Student plan. Spotify notes that users can activate these free subscriptions on existing Hulu/Showtime accounts or create new ones. Once a Spotify Premium Student subscription has been purchased, users can immediately activate the free Hulu or Showtime plans to start streaming their favorite shows. Spotify also offers a free trial to Premium, but after the trial period, users will need to pay to continue accessing the service. These include an individual plan, a Duo plan for two individuals, a Family plan for up to six users, and a Student plan that comes at a discounted price for up to four years. Like Apple Music, Spotify offers a variety of streaming plans to choose from.
